A Discovery of Witches

Book 1 in the All Souls Trilogy by Deborah Harkness

This book is an adult Twilight with witches meets Pillars of the Earth.  I devoured it!   It has really good romance, protective caring good vampires, books and librarys (I, of course, love reading stories about characters who read), and good fighting evil.  What's not to love?  I can't wait for the next book.  All I can say is, please do not make to many bad things happen in book two.  I hate stories that start out good and end up completely depressing.

Look Me In The Eye, My Life With Asperger's

by John Elder Robinson

I picked this book up for several reasons:  I work in school's with kids who have Asperger's (in a non-teaching role), I know people with Asperger's, and my own son sometimes acts like he has Asperger's.  At this point, I don't think my son does have Asperger's, but I am still interested in how this condition affects people's lives.

I loved this book!  My family got sick of me talking about as I was reading it.  The author overcomes an awful childhood and an condition that no one had even heard of before to go on to do great things.  I loved reading about how his love of electronics ended up with him getting work out of it.  I loved his description of married life, I couldn't agree more--It is good to be married.

This book has it all, entertaining stories, life lessons, stories of overcoming, and being the best you can be.

Angelology by Danielle Trussone

Angels called Watchers took human wives and produced offspring.  The Watchers were then imprisoned.  They are all uncaring and evil.  People who study these creatures and who are at war with the offspring in order to save humanity are call Angelologists.  The book reminded me a bit Dan Brown with Angels.  I didn't love it, but found it interesting.  I think there will be more books and possibly a movie.  I will probably have to read them all and see the movie, though.

Moon Called by Patricia Briggs

Mercy Thompson Series, Book 1

This is a new series I am starting to read and so far I love it.  I don't always like werewolves and shape shifter stories, but so far I love this one.  Mercy is a mystery, even to herself, has two hot, powerful men interested in her and is possibly more powerful herself than she knows.  I can't wait to find out what happens next.

Riley Jenson Guardian Series

Moon Sworn by Keri Arthur

This is book 9 in the Series and I am finally finished with it.  The series ended on a fairly satisfactory note.  Something I usually can't say.  I would have liked a bit more wrapping up, but I am satisfied.  A fun series.  There were things about the character that I never fully liked, but overall a good, fun, escape series.

Stealing Lincoln's Body

by Thomas J. Craughwall

This is an interesting little book, full of Illinois history.  The author starts with counterfeiting and ends up explaining a bizarre attempt to seal Lincoln's body.  I learned a lot of local history that I did not know.

Karen Marie Moning's Faefever series

Darkfever
Bloodfever
Faefever
Dreamfever
Shadowfever

I read all five books in just a few weeks.  It is a great story.  The author does a great job of just giving you enough info. to keep reading.  The evil Fae, the elusive Barons, and Mac. who keeps rising to all the challenges thrown her way.  There are still a lot of questions left unanswered, so I hope the spin off series will continue to delve into the Fae world.  Loved them!
